Today a new edition of Le Web, the biggest event for web entrepreneurs in Europe, kicks-off in Paris. Le Web will bring together 3,500 participants from more than 80 countries and features start-ups and leading Communication and Information Technology companies, alongside investors and journalists, who will focus on the big opportunities for growth and development in the internet industry. The event will also offer an interesting program of conferences and activities during two busy days.
One of these activities, sponsored by Softonic, will take place at the ICEX stand (España Exportación e Inversiones) on December 10th at 12.30, following a presentation by the famous Catalan chef Ferran Adrià. During the event, the Spanish start-ups on show at Le Web 2013 will be presented.
Softonic is committed to helping emerging businesses in the sector, and we always offer our support and experience to those entrepreneurs who start small, but dream big; just as we once did 16 years ago, before growing into the world’s most comprehensive software guide.

Softonic always strives to think global but act local and for that reason we’ve joined the second annual Tech Gives Back campaign. We are part of a coalition of Bay Area startups working together to gather food, clothing, and cash donations for a group of nonprofit partners including Goodwill of San Francisco, San Mateo and San Francisco and Marin Food Banks.
To give our support to this charitable cause, we’ll be collecting gently used clothing and packaged food donations in our office. This is our way to give back to the communities in which we live and work.
You can follow the buzz via the hashtag #techgivesback on Social Media. We hope we can collect a great amount of clothes and food to make Tech Gives Back ’13 a true success!

It was during March this year that we announced Softonic had reached the 5 Million Daily Download mark. Today, 8 months later, we can proudly announce another huge milestone. Each day our users from around the world are downloading more than 6 Million software titles. It’s like having the whole population of Denmark come to our office each day!
From this amazing number, 30% of the downloads come from Softonic’s version for smartphones and tablets, which makes a clear statement of how users are using mobile devices on a greater scale to access the internet.
Tomás Diago, Founder & President of the company states: “This rapid growth in downloads is due to several reasons. One is that the community of worldwide users that visit us, don’t come just looking for software and apps, they also leave comments, read news, ask questions or watch tutorials.”
In Softonic besides free and 100% secure software, you’ll also find expert content created by our editorial team. This content is generated in 10 languages and as of today, around 25,000 news pieces, articles and reviews have been published.

Santiago Arano, CEO North America and Vice President Innovation at Softonic was one of the speakers at the Spain Technology & Innovation event, that was organized by ICEX (España Exportación e Inversiones), in San Francisco, USA.
The main goal of the event was to provide a networking space for Spanish entrepreneurs and international investors. The Prince of Asturias and the Minister of External Affairs and Cooperation of the Spanish Government as well as other personalities, attended the event.
Softonic, founded in Barcelona in 1997, was one of the first Spanish technology firms that opened a location in Silicon Valley. Since 2008, the company has an office in San Francisco and in 2013 a new office in New York has been established.
Santiago Arano presented Softonic as a success case study and a role model for those companies who want to open new international locations.
In his own words “it is an honor to be a reference for entrepreneurs who want to come to the US, as well as for companies that take into account our global growth, which reflects the fact that Softonic is currently ranked as the 37th internet property according to global audience.”

On November 7th, Softonic’s offices in Barcelona and San Francisco joined up with other companies from fourteen countries to Bring In Your Parents Day, organized by the professional networking site LinkedIn.
Softonic opened its doors to its employees’ parents, giving them the opportunity to see first-hand the place where their children work and to understand better the jobs they do, bringing together two generations with very different experiences of the world of work.
Since the foundation of Softonic over 16 years ago, the world has undergone so many changes that sometimes it is difficult for parents to understand what their children actually do when they go to work. A recent survey carried out by LinkedIn in Spain revealed that a third of parents don’t understand their children’s jobs. Bring In Your Parents Day was a great opportunity for Softonic to explain it to them.

The November 4 visit of this year’s crop of Premio Emprenedor XXI awardees to our office in San Francisco marked the second consecutive year that Softonic has hosted winners of this important prize. The award program, which is sponsored by Caixa Capital Risc, the venture capital division of CaixaBank, and considered to be one of the most important yearly competitive forums for entrepreneurs in Spain, offers successful contestants the opportunity to travel to Silicon Valley and participate in what is known as a “technological bridge.”
This four-day program includes visits to benchmark Silicon Valley companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Oracle, as well as Spanish companies that have also put down stakes there such as Softonic, which established operations in San Francisco in 2008—the first Spanish tech company to do so.
Vice President of Innovation & CEO North America Santiago Arano was on hand to welcome the delegation of this year’s winners, who had the opportunity to learn firsthand about his experience as a pioneering entrepreneur in Silicon Valley and the success story of Softonic, which currently serves over 128 million unique users per month who make more than 5 million downloads daily.
